How to Show a Sale Price on Instagram Without Confusing Buyers

An Instagram caption can announce a sale, but the buyer still needs a reliable record of the price at checkout. If a post says “25% off” while the private order link shows only one unexplained number, trust disappears quickly.

ClaimCart lets a merchant store both an original comparison price and the current selling price. A product originally priced at $200 and now sold for $150 appears with the $200 price crossed out, the $150 price emphasized, and a calculated 25% discount. The selling price—not the comparison price—is used for inventory, checkout, and order totals.

Use an honest reference price

A comparison price should represent a genuine prior or regular price. Merchants remain responsible for local pricing and advertising laws. Artificially increasing a reference price to create a misleading discount can harm customers and the business.

Sale price versus promo code

A sale price applies to everyone who opens that product's valid checkout. A promo code is an additional conditional discount. For example:

  • Original price: $200
  • Sale price: $150
  • WELCOME10: another 10% off
  • Final product subtotal: $135 before shipping

Keeping those layers separate makes the receipt understandable and gives the merchant control over public sales and targeted campaigns.

A clearer Instagram purchase journey

The buyer comments the product's keyword, receives a private link, sees the same sale information, selects a variant and quantity, and reviews the final total before submitting. The merchant receives an order record with the original subtotal, promo discount, shipping charge, code used, and final total.

Clear pricing is not only a design detail. It reduces checkout surprises, support messages, and disputes.
