Create percentage or fixed promo codes, set minimum orders, and keep discount calculations secure for Instagram buyers.
Promo Codes for Instagram Orders: Percentage and Fixed Discounts
Instagram promotions often begin in a Reel, Story, creator collaboration, or direct message. The difficult part is ensuring that the promised discount is applied consistently when a buyer reaches checkout.
ClaimCart merchants can create promo codes in Settings and choose either a percentage discount or a fixed amount. They can activate or pause each code and set a minimum product subtotal.
Percentage versus fixed amount
A percentage code scales with the cart. A 10% code removes $10 from a $100 product subtotal. A fixed code removes the configured currency amount, such as $15, regardless of whether the eligible subtotal is $100 or $200. A discount never reduces the product subtotal below zero.
How ClaimCart validates a code
The browser does not decide the price. ClaimCart recalculates the selected products and quantities on the server, finds the merchant's active code, checks the minimum subtotal, and applies the discount. The same validation runs again when the buyer submits the order.
This prevents a buyer from changing a displayed total or reusing a stale calculation after modifying quantities.
Recommended campaign setup
Use short, memorable codes such as DROP10 or FIRST15. Keep campaign dates and audience rules in the Instagram caption, disable the code when the campaign ends, and avoid using a fixed discount that exceeds the intended product value.
The final order record preserves the subtotal, code, discount, shipping charge, and total so the merchant and buyer can understand how the price was calculated.
